FAQ

Everything a Texas dock owner asks.

Which Texas lakes do you serve?

We build custom docks across Central and North Texas, with crews regularly working on Lake LBJ, Lake Travis, Lake Austin, Lake Buchanan, Lake Marble Falls, and Cedar Creek Lake. If your property is on a different Texas lake, give us a call — we often travel for the right project.

What is the difference between a stationary and a floating dock?

Stationary docks are anchored to the lakebed and sit at a fixed elevation — ideal for lakes with stable water levels and for homeowners who want a rock-solid concrete deck. Floating docks ride on steel flotation and move up and down with the water, which is essential on lakes where levels swing several feet. We build both, and we will recommend the right one after reviewing your shoreline.

How long does a custom dock project take?

Every project is different, but most new stationary docks take 6–12 weeks from permit to completion, and floating docks are typically 4–8 weeks. Renovations and add-ons can be faster. We lock timelines after the site visit so you know exactly what to expect.

Do you handle permits and HOA submittals?

Yes. LCRA permits on the Highland Lakes, individual lake authority submittals, and HOA architectural reviews are part of our standard scope. We prepare the engineered drawings, submit the paperwork, and keep you copied on every approval.

Can you renovate or repair my existing dock?

Absolutely. A large share of our work is additions, resurfacing, lift replacement, and structural repairs. We assess the existing framework, tell you what is salvageable, and lay out upgrade options — often you can keep the footprint and dramatically improve the deck, roof, or lifts.

How do I request a quote?

Call Josh at 512-755-6978, call Kevin at 972-679-6851, or email kevin@texasdockdesign.com with your address and a short description of what you are looking for. We will schedule a site visit within one business week and return a written quote shortly after.

What materials do you use?

Galvanized and coated structural steel for framing and floats, poured concrete or concrete dock tile for decking, marine-grade fasteners, and corrosion-resistant hardware. Every material is specced for Texas heat, UV, and freshwater exposure.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Texas Dock & Design carries full general liability and workers compensation insurance, and we are a BBB-accredited business. References are available on request.
